Backend Engineer

About the role

You will work on the runtime and control plane powering workflow orchestration, batch processing, and API execution at scale. This role is for engineers who care about correctness, performance, and operability in distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core platform services with strong reliability, throughput, and low-latency behavior.
• Build and optimize APIs, workflow execution paths, and persistence layers for high-volume workloads.
• Implement resilient patterns for retries, idempotency, queueing, and fault recovery.
• Partner with product and frontend engineers to deliver production-ready features end-to-end.
• Improve observability with structured logs, metrics, tracing, and actionable alerting.
• Contribute to architecture decisions for scalability, multi-tenancy, and security controls.

What we're looking for

• Strong backend engineering experience with modern server-side languages and frameworks.
• Practical experience building or operating distributed systems in production.
• Fluency with API design, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Strong debugging and incident-response mindset with ownership of outcomes.
• Clear written and verbal collaboration in a remote environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with orchestration engines, schedulers, stream processing, or workflow systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure and containerized deployments.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture and high-concurrency systems.
